Joseph Pilates, the creator of Pilates, once said that anyone who is stiff and out of shape at 30 is old, while someone who is supple and strong at 60 is still young. There’s something to be said about that.

The health of our spine is directly related to the age of our body, if your spine is weak and always in pain it will age your entire body. Stretching and strengthening of the muscles, while simultaneously pulling the bones and joints of the skeletal system helps to stabilize and realign the spine and bring the body back to its natural state. Pilates works to realign the spine while correcting the muscular imbalances throughout the body to bring you back to a natural state of alignment.

Pilates is the true and time proven formula that won’t leave you frustrated due to poor results and, with practice, will keep your entire body supple and strong. Pilates employs powerful exercises to promote full-body strength, which in turn transmits neurological signals into the deepest and most supportive structures of the musculoskeletal system and, from there, to the limbs, where the more superficial muscles of mobility reside. Pilates works from the inside out and is considered a full-body workout. Its emphasis is on carefully executed, functional movements that elongate muscles as they develop, resulting in a longer, stronger, leaner and more physiologically integrated and sound silhouette, for both men and women, regardless of age, physical and athletic ability, or economic reality.

Pilates has earned its place as a true turn-back-the-clock way of life. Spines become straighter and taller. Posture improves dramatically. Chronic pain magically disappears—or is significantly reduced. Pilates followers learn to move through their lives with a new and improved attitude that broadcasts a potent message: “I’ve invested in a life of authentic youth and vitality.” If this all sounds too good to be true, rest assured it isn’t. Many new Pilates clients arrive at their first class hunched, fatigued and hurting. A few months later, they are walking tall, an unmistakable sparkle in their eyes, a restored youth and vitality. Seeing is believing.
